GentleSteps™ Training is Pet Stop® Exclusive, Revolutionary, Humane, Safe & Simple. GentleSteps™ is a modern & incremental conditioning method that reduces commonly encountered stress issues in traditional containment training procedures.
We understand that each dog is unique and has a different temperament. So, we begin by using very low levels of collar stimulation. Just a tickle, during the critical training phase.
Not only do pets learn boundaries faster with GentleSteps™ but training is also fun – whether your pet is sensitive & compliant, or needs more incentive to stay in the yard.
The end result is a happier, healthier, safely contained pet that’s free to roam your property.
How GentleSteps™ Training Works
The days of painfully shocking your pet to teach them their new fence boundaries are in the past! GentleSteps™ training is extremely pet-friendly & humane - using low levels of gradually-increasing correction to gently teach your pet their new fence, with little-to-no-stress.
This method was designed to work seamlessly with our products - allowing you or us to train your pet to the fence faster & more efficiently. The use of positive-reinforcement & treats during training can even make GentleSteps™ training fun for both the pet & the owner!
With GentleSteps™ Training programs, Pet Stop® receivers are designed with a broad range of settings, allowing for ultra-low levels of collar stimulation during the initial training phase.
This allows your dog to learn stress-free and secure in the safety of your yard. These low levels of stimulation resemble a tickle.
As your dog roams the yard and begins to understand the boundary, we will demonstrate how to gradually reach a correction-level that your dog becomes conditioned to respect & avoid.
This unique soft-touch training method allows Pet Stop® clients a more positive experience as their dog becomes familiar with the freedom to run and play safely off leash.
***Always remove the fence collar from your dog's neck at night while they sleep. Failure to do this will result in sores developing where the probes make contact with your dog's neck if the fence collar is left in place for longer than 5-7 days.
There’s no guesswork and no timetable. Your dog will be telling us what level they need and when they need that level.
Dogs are like people; every dog is different. We will progress at the dog’s pace.
We are committed to working with you to customize the training experience to what best suits your pet and provide the initial training to get you started.
That being said, most dogs are trained to the fence in less than 2 weeks.
Our Unlimited Onsite Follow-up (provided with our standard-price and premium systems) is our promise to you, to ensure we meet & exceed your expectations.

What Should I Expect?
After we professionally install your boundary wire and mark it with flags, one of our trained technicians will adjust the collar and set it to the lowest level of stimulation resembling a “tickle.” He will lead your pet on leash into the boundary and then back to safety several times at different locations.
We use a unique gentle approach that has produced outstanding results. Our training method is so effective that owners need to spend only 10-15 minutes, three times a day, during the training period to teach pets their new boundaries. Dogs love the training because it is painless, fun, upbeat, and comes with lots of tasty treats!
After a few minutes of your pet relaxing after the introduction, our trainer will explain the process to you once again, hand the leash to you and observe as you guide your pet into the boundary and back to safety.
Next our technician will demonstrate how to gradually increase the collar correction level for each session as your pet learns the boundary.
We’ll answer all your questions to your satisfaction before we leave or we will schedule a follow up session – that is our promise to you.
With just a few minutes once or twice a day repeating these training techniques, your dog will become comfortably familiar with the new boundary and enjoy your yard free to play off leash while respecting the new boundary.
Using these mild tickles, we will be teaching your dog to back up from the flags. You may notice your dog slightly cocking his head to the side, perking his ears up, or scratching his neck, but what you won’t see is yelping or crying – most dogs show no sign of discomfort or stress, and many actually enjoy the training. Your dog will soon learn how to back up on his own.
If you notice a change in your pet’s behavior, please let us know as soon as possible, so we can help determine how we need to modify your system or your pet's training procedure. Pet Stop® makes it quick & easy to adjust your system - whether via the transmitter or by the Link™ App for anyone with our Link™ EcoLite™ system.
***Always remove the fence collar from your dog's neck at night while they sleep. Failure to do this will result in sores developing where the probes make contact with your dog's neck if the fence collar is left in place for longer than 5-7 days.

Options Available
This is our most popular training package available but keep in mind that your participation is required.
The process begins with our highly experienced staff technician trainer doing several boundary encounters with your pet. The purpose of this is to teach you by demonstration how to achieve the best results and point out what you should be looking for as your dog experiences and reacts to the corrective stimulus at the lowest level for the first several times.
After several demonstrations, our trainer will then hand you the leash and observe you doing the same repetition of introducing your dog to the boundary until you are comfortable and understand the process.
The trainer will then teach you how to increase the correction level of the receiver as you progress through each successive GentleSteps training session with your dog over the next several days, and then answer any questions you may have.
If any complications arise as you continue the training & orientation process with your dog, we provide unlimited free phone, text, and email support with the fastest response times in the industry to answer your questions and help resolve problems quickly & easily.
In the event that these phone, text, or email solutions are not adequate, we guarantee to return onsite to help you free of charge as many times as necessary to ensure that your dog is successfully trained & contained with the system. Once again we remind you that your participation is required for these follow up sessions.
This is called our “Training Insurance Package” for the unexpected. There is no time limit or expiration on this service benefit for the dog it was purchased for. In other words, if your 3 month old puppy does great during their training and is contained, then gets older and possibly develops some new behaviors and begins to challenge the boundary, you can rely on us to return onsite if necessary and assist you with resolving the problem.
There is no other company that we are aware of that provides this type of training guarantee at no additional future cost.
In the event that circumstances in your life prevent you from participating in the training process we totally understand and that is why we also offer a complete training package, for an additional cost, that requires no involvement on your part. Please let us know at any time if this becomes a need and we will be happy to provide this additional service.
***Always remove the fence collar from your dog's neck at night while they sleep. Failure to do this will result in sores developing where the probes make contact with your dog's neck if the fence collar is left in place for longer than 5-7 days.
For the Complete Training Package, your participation is NOT required, but we encourage you to observe each session as much as your schedule permits. One of our technicians will perform all the training for your pet(s) until 100% containment is achieved.
Our Complete Training ensures your pet will learn the fence boundaries in the safest and most effective way possible within 7-10 days, weather permitting.
The process involves gently introducing your dog to the boundary starting with the lowest stimulation level and then increasing one level at a time carefully watching your dogs responses until your dog is submitting to and obeying the new boundary
We also use treats to positively motivate your dog while learning to respect the new boundary. This promotes a very happy and safe experience during the training process.
The training will include as many days, and sessions per day, as it takes for your pet to be comfortably & completely trained to the system; commonly 3-5 sessions for most dogs.
We will determine when your pet has completed the training and containment to your yard has been achieved.
When training is complete your dog will no longer be testing the boundary & contained safely in your yard.
If the need arises for us to return after training is completed to reinforce your pet's obedience to the boundary, we will do so free of charge. Unlimited text, email & phone support is always available as well.
